A Brief Introduction to Speed Reducer
What is a speed reducer? It is a kind of closed-type transmissiopment which is installed in prime motor and working machine. (1) Gear, axis and bearing
The combination of pinion gear and axis is called gear shaft. This structure is used when the diameter of the gear is similar to the diameter of the axis. We suppose the diameter of the axis is “d” and the diameter of the root circle of the gear is “df”. When the difference between “df” and “d” is less than 6 or 7mn, this structure is suitable. While, when the difference between “df” and “d” is more than 6 or 7mn, it is better to separate the gear and axis. Meanwhile, the gear is connected with the fixed flat key of the axis and the spare parts in the axis are fixed under the use of the shaft shoulder, housing and bearing cover. The bearing can be lubricated by the thin oil splashed when the gear rotates.
(2) Case
The case is the essential element for a speed reducer. It is the base of the transmission components. So it is characterized by the high rigidity and strength. In general situation, the case is made of gray iron. Sometimes, in order to simplify the technology and reduce the cost, the steel plate is also used to make the case. For the purpose of ensuring the stability of this reducer’s installation and reducing the mechanical working area of the case base, the base of the case adopts the incomplete surface.
(3) Accessory of the speed reducer
In order to ensure the normal operation of the speed reducer, people should not only focus on the design of the gear, axis, bearing and case but also should pay attention to the choice and design about the oil vent, height of the oil level, the accurate position of case cover and case base and other aided parts.
