A given motor, how do you determine which wire corresponds to which coil?
You need a multimeter. Yeah, that’s what UIrobot can tell you.
Is there a quick and tooless way to identify which two or three/four coils (damn 4 lead wire, 6 lead wire and 8 lead wire stepper motors) are the same group?
First, spread out the lead wires of the stepper motor, turn the shaft of the motor and feel the torque;
And then, connect whichever two wires to try out the torque again, if you find the torque is similar or same with the initial step, the two wires are not the same group;
Try out all two coils, and you will find the torque between the same group coils is larger than the different group wires.
A+, A-, B+, B-
Am I right? Every experts there.
Is a motor a generator?
Absolutely, a motor can be a generator and in the hand a generator is a motor.
Somebody may try out to build your own Wind Turbine for hobbies or so. You may experience this, you broke your old computer printer or wherever you can find out a stepper motor. Why was that? Because you need a generator first if you follow the below steps:
1. A generator
2. Blades
3. A mounting that keeps it turned into the wind
4 .A tower to get it up into the wind
5. Batteries and an electronic control system
Another fact shows that a motor is a generator anyway. Do you have an experience wire the UIrobot stepper motor driver to your stepper motor? How do you know your wiring is correct? An easy and interesting way to find it out is turning the shaft of your stepper motor, fast and faster, if the LED light of the stepper motor driver flashing that means your wiring is wonderful, if not there is problem there. Stepper Motor Driver is a very useful unit which can help the stepper motor to replace the servo motor in some conditions and save you money. A stepper motor driver with microstepping can smooth your step motor and give you wanted torque. Jump in here, a bipolar stepper motor driver can drive 4 lead wires bipolar stepper motor, as well 6 lead wires unipolar stepper motor and 8 lead wires step motor. Stepper motor driver is an open loop system without feedback.
After known the stepper motor driver, so what’s a stepper motor controller? Let’s take it simple way, for sample, UIM240 parallel port stepper motor driver, UIM241 serial port stepper motor controller and UIM242 stepper motor controller with CAN protocol, what’s the difference there? Stepper motor controller is a programming system with a microcontroller built-in but not stepper motor driver. To me, stepper motor controller is more intelligent than stepper motor driver.
