Kids….and The Music Factor
To what extent exactly, if any, does music affects and influence our kids? Well, to begin with let establish how much of an interest a kid has in music. Very little…not so much….a lot? If you choose the third response you are right.
Kids are very much into music, as a matter of fact, a child of just a couple of months old will respond to music quite differently from say just talk or simple noise. By the time they can walk they are dancing to beats on the radio or on the television. So, it can be safely said that music is a powerful factor and force in a kids mind. A child will learn the lyrics to a song quicker than he can learn to recite the ABC’s. That is one of the reasons they attached that melody the alphabets, it makes them learn it quicker.
This then is the reason why there is so much concern as to the kind of music our kids are listening to. A child will absorb and subsequently act out what he or she hears in songs,and if its negative and abrasive, depending on how long they are exposed to it chances are the child will tend to want to adapt to the suggestion of the lyrics. Over a period of time, and constant exposure, you could end up with a child fully programed by these kinds of lyrics.This kid will eventually grow up to be a problem adult, totally, negatively brain washed and sadly, probably totally irredeemable.
