Single phase induction motor is connected to a single voltage line. Moreover, an external capacitor is needed for effective operating of this motor. Single phase induction motors can be sub-divided into four basic types such as split phase, capacitor start, permanent split capacitor and capacitor run/capacitor start. Three phase induction motors are the most simplest and rugged electric motors available so far. They are designed for either DELTA or WYE hook-up and for continuous usage and high starting torques. As far as two phase servo motor is concerned, they are meant for servo systems and are very sensitive to voltage variations on control phase. Hysteresis synchronous motors are known as induction motors that run at synchronous speed.

Stepper motor is supposed to be the most affordable one which uses magnetic field for its rotor movement. It divides the entire rotation process in different steps and requires appropriate voltage source for changing the polarity of poles applied to its rotor. Industrialists who have installed brushless DC motor need not to bother about brush wear and sparking because it do not contain brushes at all unlike brushed motors. It requires solid state control and feedback devices for effective results.
