Kyocera KM-C2520 – A3 Color Multifunctional Center
For oversized, color printing needs, an A3 multifunctional center such as the Kyocera KM-C2520 is the way to go. Loaded up with enormous amounts of memory and various finishing options, this Kyocera makes color printing easy, along with copying and scanning.
Operating at a range of print speeds, the Kyocera KM-C2520 offers users options as far as high speed versus quality and color. A4 color prints can be done at 20 pages per minute, while A3 color is possible at 10 pages per minute. Black and white speeds run at 25 pages per minute for A4 and 13 pages per minute for A3. Unfortunately, the unit’s maximum resolution is only 600 x 600 dots per inch, severely limiting the printer’s ability to recreate photos.
Duplexing comes standard with the Kyocera KM-C2520, but will further reduce overall print speed. It does, however, allow for a maximum of 4,100 pages at one time to be double sided printed, which would result in a very significant savings in paper, reducing costs by eight whole reams. Standard paper storage capacity is much lower, with two 500 sheet universal cassettes, and a 100 sheet multipurpose tray that can be used as a convenient bypass for special media types.
Black toner cartridges carry a respectable yield of 15,000 pages, while cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges hold 7,000 sheets each when measuring by a 5% coverage of A4 paper. Memory is outstanding in the Kyocera KM-C2520, with the copy machine holding 768 MBs and the printer holding 256 MBs. A 40 GB hard disk also comes standard with the copy machine, while the printer can then be expanded to a total of 1 GBs of RAM and an additional 40 GBs via hard disk. Both network scanning and network printing are possible with the unit.
What would a medium size MFC be without extensive hardware options? The Kyocera KM-C2520 offers users a wide range of finishers and add ons including a full fax system, which is not standard to the device. A 1,000 sheet finisher with 1 position stapling is available for purchase, as well as a larger 3,000 sheet one with 3 position stapling. An optional booklet folder is also available for making colorful, two sided booklets as well as folded single page pamphlets in mass quantities.
A seven slot mail bin can be especially useful in a networked office environment with multiple, simultaneous users, while a hole punch unit can help for making larger booklets. Data security is also optional for information of a sensitive nature. Buyers have the option of choosing between a DP-710 document feeding unit and a simple platen cover.
As a full sized, medium duty unit that runs in full color, the Kyocera KM-C2520 will cost businesses a price easily within the five figure range, severely limiting its overall market, but with various finishing options and heavy volume possibilities, offices that require massive color output should be very happy with the Kyocera unit, which easily outperforms its lighter duty color laser competition.
