Landscape Wiring and burying Guidelines:

Internal and external lighting for your home can work wonders. Landscape lighting adds to the beautification of your home.  Besides adding to the aesthetics of your home, these outdoor electrical fixtures also make your place safer by illuminating it at night. Appropriate outdoor electrical lighting is complete only if the complete wiring takes place under the expert supervision of the Atlanta electricians, with extreme care for secure wiring and electrical fixtures.

Generally it has been seen that handymen tend to install electrical wires overhead instead of burying underground. Besides being unsafe, overhead wiring is an eyesore in the front view of your home. Before any contractor start a project with digging the trenches and burying the wires, the National Electrical Code (NEC) as your local codes are set in place so that wires are buried at a safe depth as to not cause any personal harm.

A structured wiring system delivers all of the various types of cabling throughout the home. It is also important that you utilize types of wire that are suited for the conditions upon which they are installed. An Atlanta electrician is familiar with the latest NEC guidelines for installing any cables and buying them at the appropriate depth.

There are certain facts that should be noted when the wiring has to be buried:

• The wire when placed in the metallic conduit, the depth of the pit to bury the cable should be of 6 inches. The wire is placed in the pipe which is made using aluminum or steel. The pipe should be painted using a bituminous based solution in order to prevent the corrosion of the aluminum conduit pipe. Its contact with moisture and other natural elements including pest and insects should be prevented.

• A 12 inches deep trench is dug to bury a wire which is then placed in a rigid non-metallic conduit. These standards are suggested by National Electrical Code (NEC). The rigid conduit is made from high density polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride.

• If you are using an underground feeder cable that has to be buried directly in the ground as it comes with a weatherproof casing, you need to place it in an 18 inch deep trench since there is no conduit to protect the wire.

But before the work actually starts all sorts of protection and guidelines regarding fire hazards, electrical shock mapping, use of unsafe equipment etc. should be taken into consideration. Atlanta Electricians contractors should be checked for their authenticity and their efficiency in the work done earlier before signing the contracts, as your family safety matters a lot more than just the home landscape lighting.
