Manual Reset Questions
Reset and Fix incorrect or invalid password for Windows XP Mode(XPMUser)
During the initial configuration indows XP Mode(XPM) after installing the free and full license Windows XP in a virtual machine Virtual PC Windows 7 , the user must set a password for the default XPMUser account. By default, Windows XP will save mode and remember the user name and password to log data to XPMUser Windows Virtual PC, you can log on to the desktop, where the direct integration features are enabled.
However, some users may decide not to assign or set any password for the account XPMUser username and password to delete XPMUser through its password blank or null.
The problem is that Virtual PC, Windows may prompt the user, the password is incorrect or misleading when trying to log on to Windows XP mode, even if it is appropriate and entered the correct password or other XPMUser Accounts created in XP mode. Integration-enabled, Windows XP Mode does not accept log on with a user account, password, empty or not.
problem is compounded by the fact that the user can forget or are unaware of the password created for XPMUser during the initial configuration of Mode for XP and therefore unable or can not login.
Here are some workaround solutions can not log on to Windows XP mode due to wrong or incorrect password, which requires a few tricks to reset the password for user accounts in Windows XP VM mode.
Method 1: Reset Password Reinstalling XPMUser by XPM
users are asked to specify a password for a user account XPMUser by default when you install Windows XP Mode. If you lose, forget or just do not know the password or enter the password is always wrong, and then uninstall and reinstall Windows XP mode. The installation process will ask for your password again.
Method 2: Log in using the default administrator account
You can try accessing Mode from the Windows XP administrator account by default Administrator, which was only for display in safe mode. By default, no password for the Administrator account, so it can be used to reset the password on the password of other accounts.
To do this, follow these steps:
In Windows XP Mode window, click Tools -> Disable features integration . restart Windows XP mode. When the Boot menu appears on startup, press F8 .
Note: You must press the F8 key repeatedly until the Windows Startup menu. Advanced Options menu in Windows, select safe mode and then press ENTER. Log on to Windows using an administrator account and password.
Note: The password is blank by default unless already set a password. After logging in Safe Mode, click Start , go to Run type nusrmgr.cpl and then press ENTER. Select the user you want to change and click Reset Password . Set a new password. Click Advanced click Advanced button. Click Users . Select the user you want to modify in the right pane. This right and Properties . Check and check the box with Password never expires . Click OK. Finish the settings and restart Windows XP mode in normal mode. When you log on to Windows XP mode, be sure to check the box Forgot your credentials , so you do not need to re-enter your password. Method 3: Integration without logging features
Mode Windows XP integration features require a user account and password to login. Use the following the following steps to set the password, and then configure the virtual machine note of credentials and not prompt for a password to open any programs.
When Windows XP-Mode requests a password, click on Cancel . Integration of functions should be disabled, otherwise go to Tools -> Disable features integration .
Without the integration of functions are allowed to log on using an account that do not have the passwords. Enter your user name and password(if any) to log on to XP mode. To use the integration features, it is recommended to set the password for the current user and the use of Windows Virtual PC to remember my mandate, to avoid having to logon manually.
