Fixed Field Questions

To make a good video or to repair it afterwards? How to fix video routinely
You can just as well skip this introduction if you only wish to learn how to fix video
There is a new tendency among paintball players to enhance the experience that they are doing something requiring expertise and even training. I guess that there are some such people in every hobby, and no matter how silly it is, they will still make it competitive and overburdened with rules which they impose on all others; who don’t know how to relax, or play without being very studious. Like stamp collectors estimating the value of their collection by whether some stamps have been used or are missing some perforations, instead of just enjoying their beauty, or using them for firing their imagination and daydreaming about exotic places, or whatever. Silly. Though, maybe I am too judgmental. Maybe it is only because I have been in the army and have first hand experience of small unit performances to be able to plainly see how far from reality their little role-playing is. They talk about some tactics. And all this on my simple small field with obstacles. But I have noticed that it’s the girls who’ve never wanted to be in the military, or played so as kids, that have the most fun.
What my boss requires me to do is to shoot with a camera those most competitive teams - for a fee – while they are playing, so that they can afterwards watch their performance on our office video beam, quarrel about who’s made the greatest mistakes, but most importantly spend some more on our refreshments.
I guess I am finished with my ramblings (but only maybe!), and I can finally explain what I have discovered to be the least bothersome way how to fix video for those ‘after action reports’.
And now how do I do it!
I don’t have many options. I must stay outside the playing field. Even if I didn’t mind getting a stray shot at myself or the camera, the customers would complain that I am in their way or some such. I have tried using a tripod but it’s too cumbersome to move the whole construction from side to side, so I just shoot out of hand. There are several points that I have to compensate for – our lighting produces a great difference in exposed and shaded parts of the field, sometimes the action is very fast and when I follow it the picture gets blurry. I also need to pretend that I am a judge. And that is about it.
All these conditions and fast pace of the games have convinced me to not even bother trying to adjust camera settings. I simply bring along my own laptop and use my video editing program. This vReveal has the option to repair the video alone, without any direction or supervision, and it does it very fast. So I just hook my camera to the computer, import the recording, let the program work, and while I’ve gathered the weapons and equipment it’ll be finished.
It fixes all the problems very nicely. The picture is clear, there’s no blurriness or shakiness, contrast is moderated. A fine performance from a free program.
